Negatives: Place is pretty cramped Gets very busy during lunch hours |
Golden House is a no frill, understated place that gets really busy during lunch hours. The place is quite cramp as they try to fit as many tables (customers) as possible in this little place. Though they bill themselves as a Vietnamese cuisine restaurant, you can also get your typical Chinese dishes such as Kung Pao chicken and beef with broccoli here. Items on the menu are pretty well priced with pho costing around $6.
The combination lunch special is quite a deal consist of soup, salad, imperial roll, and your choice of tofu, bbq chicken, pork, or beef with rice; the meal also come with free drink for $6.95. My bbq beef combo came out fairly quickly along with a cup of soup. The salad was consist of shredded chinese cabbage, carrot, lettuce and peanuts without any dressing. I guess the nuoc mam (fish sauce) that came with the meal was for both the salad and the bbq beef. The imperial roll was average and the bbq beef was pretty good. Golden house is a solid no nonsense kind of restaurant that lacks sexiness or characters but delivers on value and taste.
