Since there aren’t many taquerias at Little Saigon, I wanted to give Los Compadres a try to see if it’s worth of making a trip for. This roach coach is oddly located in a parking lot by itself with few tables and chairs in front of it. At Los Compadres, it seems that everything cost extra. The workers there seemed pretty serious, though never rude. I got the al pastor burrito which came with rice, beans, meat, hot sauce, and I had to pay an extra dollar for some guacamole and pico de gallo. I also requested for extra hot sauce, which was a big mistake. I can eat pretty spicy stuff but the extra hot sauce actually made my mouth numb; I was still gulping down diet coke five minutes after my meal.
The pork in the burrito was juicy, full of flavor, a big plus. Yet, even after I paid an extra dollar for the extras, I still had trouble locating and tasting the guacamole and pico de gallo. Too bad the al pastor had the potential to be an exceptional burrito. It ended up being a run of the mill variety that just couldn’t quite get over the hump.
