Lunch Spots for SF Professionals

Asqew Grill has a good healthy concept. Flame grilled skewered meats or fish with vegetables. Either on fixins or salad. It really looks so good, it can be hard to resist if you like flame grilled food. I like it here except with a caveat… Watch the sauces and fixin’s… Vegetables speak for themselves right, and grilled meat or fish is what it is… right ? But they always add some sauce to enhance the flavor of your skewer. I prefer these sauces on the side. Many times I change the sauce to a different one that is more healthy. These sauces are what hides calories and fat so watch out. I see they even put sauce on the vegetables, so watch that too. If you are not clear on specifying your order…this healthy idea can become a guise for fat intake. And putting sauces on the side, I always have them atop a a mixed greens type choice. Their sides scare me, Roasted Garlic Mashed potatoes ? ha ..with how much butter and fat ? They must taste good… But watch out… On another note,

Always remember that you should not eat charcoal grilled food on a daily basis. The charred part on your food happens to have carcinogens…in other words, it is cancer causing. and that, you do not want to ingest daily. I could eat charcoal grilled food everyday because I love it… and I used to eat it everyday until the carcinogen report came out many years ago.

Now, my skewer was good. I generally get the salmon now-a-days . I used to get one Salmon and one Tuna skewer but the mercury thing scared me away form the Tuna for now… I love the flavor but I don’t need their secret sauce to love it. There are a few of these places from Emeryville to Sna Jose and throughout SF…so stop by one and check one out… and if you are health conscious…order all sauces on the side.
