Since we’re all about lunch here, Scott and I thought it would be fun to match people with similar interests for lunch dates in San Francisco. No, it doesn’t have to be for romance. We are thinking more in line of matching people reading the same book, interest in the same sports, love for photography, similar age, etc… and of course, romance would be a possible match also.
So for example, if a reader is reading a book on Tantra and would like to meet someone for lunch in downtown that’s reading the same book or practices Tantra, he/she would receive an email once a week with list of other readers who are also into Tantra. The other readers will have the choice of responding to the emails or not, as their actual email address will not be shown. The way this would work would be something like this: A reader would fill out a profile identifying his/her interests, likes or dislikes, location, gender, age, intention (looking for friends, romance, or both). Then, the same reader would identify the traits of an ideal lunch mate he/she is looking for. All the information collected will be confidential and not shared with anyone else. This is just something Scott and I thought would be interesting to do and get people to expand their social circles.
To make this experiment a success, we will probably need a pretty big reader population for diversity purposes. We envision rolling out this feature by end of the year, which will give us time to code the program, test it and allow readership to catch up. So spread the word people!
If you want us to include a specific interest to match on, or have suggestions on how to make this thing a success, please email us. We would love to hear from our readers. We look forward to meeting other SF Lunchers!
