Tu Lan Restaurant

Tu Lan
8 6th Street, San Francisco
Food safety score: 86
Menu
Positives:
Dishes are cheap & good
Very interesting environment
Negatives:
One of the worst block in SF
Not a place for peace and quiet

“Sixth street between Market and Mission is one of the livelier blocks in the city, with bodies sprawled on the sidewalk, panhandlers and crazy guys without shoes.  But if you walk fast, squeeze your pocketbook under your arm and keep your eyes on the ground, you will…

Bodega Bistro

Bodega Bistro
607 Larkin St, San Francisco
Food safety score: 88
Positives:
Pretty good food
Negatives:
Only 1 waitress at lunch time
Pricey for lunch

This restaurant was a big disappointment for me considering the rave review it received on Yelp.  My gripe with this restaurant actually has nothing to do with the food as my meal was actually good.  My problem with the place is the way the business is run.

As I arrived at the restaurant, there were quite a few people waiting…

koi pondWhat the heck is going on here?  Vietnam II has always been my go-to Vietnamese restaurant.  When I want a bowl of pho, a lemon grass porkchop rice plate, won ton soup etc.. I know I can always count on this place to deliver.  Since I started writing on this blog, I had to start looking up restaurants’ food safety score…

Golden House

Golden House
366 Golden Gate Ave, San Francisco
Food safety score: 92
Menu
Positives:
Good food at good price
Negatives:
Place is pretty cramped
Gets very busy during lunch hours

Golden House is a no frill, understated place that gets really busy during lunch hours.  The place is quite cramp as they try to fit as many tables (customers) as possible in this little place.  Though they bill themselves as a Vietnamese cuisine restaurant, you can also get your typical Chinese dishes such as Kung…

Lee's sandwiches

Lee’s Sandwiches
625 LARKIN ST, San Francisco
Food safety score: 86
Positives:
Freshly baked baguettes
cheap and wide selections of sandwiches
Clean and nice environment
Negatives:
Large selections but no specialties

Located next to 2 other Vietnamese sandwich shops and being the latest one to open for business, it was either going big or go home for Lee’s Sandwiches. Boy, did they raise the bar. Antithesis of typical banh mi places, Lee’s Sandwiches has huge interior combined with modern equipments, wide selection…

Turtle Tower

Turtle Tower
631 Larkin St, San Francisco
Food safety score: 80
Positives:
Awesome hearty beef broth
Brisket is tender and tasty
Negatives:
Not the cleanest restaurant around
Dinning alone means sharing tables

The weather has been terrible the whole month and I’m having trouble taking decent pictures. Though I can come back for additional pics later , I decided to keep it real, San Francisco real. Since we’re not professional restaurant critics , we can put up whatever kind of pics we want.…
