Positives:
Special Sunday Pride Buffet
Excellent taste
Special Pride Hours!
Real taste & music of Cuba
Negatives:
Needs more dance space,
But can party outside too!
I was craving some of that good ole Mariscada which I have grown to love more than the Louisiana Gumbo that I was brought up on. So I took a stroll to Laurel Cuban Restaurant yesterday and found that the Gay Pride Celebration is going to have a Cuban theme and that a number of people are heading over to Laurel’s to Party,Eat and drink some of their special Sangria. They are opening after Sunday’s parade for those of you who are hungry! I can’t say enough about this place, they are one of the few places I know that will sell individual portions of Paella not to mention a wide variety of Cuban specialties all with high quality ingredients. Owner, Reynaldo is there every day to ensure your needs are met. Their portions are meant to fill you up, so you get a good sized volume and great taste… Reynaldo told me that people have been calling for reservations from New York and Miami so he decided to offer a buffet to better serve those who want a variety and want it fast. He specializes in playing good Cuban music and when customers request it, he is known to arrange the tables to let customers dance the night away. He can party as long as you can. Here is our past video of Laurels.
Check out their website for the Special Pride 2008 flyer. If that is not your thing, you can always try out the recently opened Amber India or if more casual is your bailiwick, then stop by Hayes & Kebab on Hayes and Gough…they serve up some healthy kebabs and salads at a reasonable price. If you are celebrating in SF this weekend and are looking for a sure thing, check one of these places out..or check out our blog pages for whatever suits your fancy ! Not to mention that you can either get your Cuban Coffee at Laurels or step to the Blue Bottle Cafe for some infused coffee that is so thick it has an alcoholic sabor. SF-Lunch.com
Positives:
Flavorful mix of foods
Healthy
Good Atmosphere
Negatives:
A bit of a walk from Bart
THis is our second time around at Prana. Last time we didn’t get video and it was their first week open. So we returned to get some footage(or should we now call it datage since there aren’t any feet of tape) BTW… I personally enjoy the airy atmosphere at Prana with their pleasant service and free wireless internet…
The food comes and the fused flavors are different and wonderful. Last time I got the 5 spice chicken plate and this time I tried the 5 spice sandwich version. It is great ! Their menu is not all that large but there should be an item or two for everyone. There is a full bar and at night it becomes a club. The video show an image of the humongous club area with high ceilings and modeled after a Temple…I have not been here for the dinner hour so you are on your own there, but as for lunch, they appear to be consistent, friendly and not too high priced. It is a little on the different side..both atmosphere and their version of fused tastes…
There is a Peet’s sighting in the Montgomery Bart station ! Okay..so what, there has been a Peet’s inside the Westfield Mall at the Bart level for quite sometime. Remember, that as of TODAY…http://www.sf-lunch.com
Amber India delivers a chic atmosphere in a manner that you don’t usually get from Indian Restaurants. The buffet, while costing…http://www.sf-lunch.com
Negatives:
Chain
Some items not so healthy
Tenderloinish area
On Fridays, we try to bring you something a bit different… So here is a bit of Friday Foolishness but with a point… A couple of weeks ago, I was in an all day meeting with the likes of Dilbert and Dogbert…
But I braved the risk and found this wonderfully prepared sandwich with real cuts of meat from the chicken, not a slab of chicken meat… toasted fresh French bread to a nice crisp,…http://www.sf-lunch.com
